Aviator Giraffe – “Geno T. Giraffe”
$20.00
Description
This Giraffe is ready for a day in the clouds with his flight helmet and goggles. Named ‘Geno’ by one of our volunteers. Giraffes, like any animal, need oxygenated blood to get to the brain, which is found at the top of a very long neck. But what’s to stop the blood just pooling in their lower extremities? For this, the giraffe has incredibly thick and tight skin around their legs and feet. It’s this adaptation that’s been mimicked by engineers who were designing g-suits, since astronauts and fighter pilots also experience pooling of blood in their legs during high G maneuvers. Not wearing a g-(for giraffe)suit would cause the pilot to most likely pass out, a bad idea when you are flying an aircraft.
