501(c)(3) Organization - American Airpower Heritage Foundation of Arizona, Inc.

The American Airpower Heritage Foundation of Arizona, Inc (AAHFAI) is a 501(c)(3) qualified non-profit corporation chartered for the purpose of supporting the activities of the Arizona Wing of the Commemorative Air Force (CAF). The Foundation is not legally or operationally associated with or connected to the Arizona Wing of the CAF. The Foundation has no members and no employees. It does have a board of directors and a staff of appointed officers.

The current board of directors consists of Rick Senffner and Larry Turner, currently members of the Arizona Wing, and Mark Novak, a member of the General Staff at CAF headquarters (HQ). Two other nominee board members, both members of the CAF HQ General Staff, are awaiting confirmation by vote of the AAHFAI board.

The appointed officer is Fred Erickson, currently a member of the Arizona Wing of the CAF (Arizona Wing), as Comptroller.

The Foundation operates to collect and raise funds to support the operations of the Arizona Wing. A substantial directed donation was recently received by the Foundation. A direct donation is a donation where the donor specifies how the funds are to be applied. In this case, the donation was directed to the purpose of improving the environmental controls in the exhibit hangar at the museum.

To maximize the value of this and future donations to the Foundation, the Arizona Wing is initiating a pledge program where Wing members may make donations to the Foundation for either directed or general purposes. The funds so collected will be eventually returned to the Arizona Wing to support projects or operations as requested by the Arizona Wing staff. The Arizona Wing staff has designated a committee to develop and prioritize numerous projects and programs than can be wholly or partially funded by the Foundation. The project list will be published in the monthly member newsletter.

The pledge program is designed to be very flexible to accommodate individual members' desires. Donations can be made on a one-time basis or on a recurring basis, and can be directed to a specific project and/or to the general fund.
